Show-and-Tell

The creativity of our members never ceases to amaze.  The ideas, tips and stories that are shared add to the excitement of our meetings.  This month, because we have not met in person for a while, we had an especially lengthy and fun show!  Here are the highlights.

•      Aileen was pleased to try something new during the pandemic.  She shared a special tip about            lining knit dresses with power mesh.
•        Connie showed us her layered fiber art projects.
•        Mary made a shirt, a purse and an in-the-hoop bear.
•        Rosemarie made a fun chef hat for her sister and a bag for others for a special upcoming event.
•        Nancy B. created a beach bag and matching hooded towel for her grandchild. 
•        Nancy W made a blouse for a display at Fields and also made seasonal covers for an antique high      chair. 
•        Pam did a beautiful quilt.
•        Sarabeth made 4 quilts we haven’t seen before.
•        Starr did a unique pillow. 
•       Our new member Sue, made a great jacket and also a lovely appliqued dish towel. 

After a wonderful speaker, our talented members shared their projects in Show 'n Tell.

Fun and camaraderie filled the room at the 2021 GRASG Annual Picnic held at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Caledonia. A worker bee crew assembled kits, cut and sewed mittens for Santa Claus Girls. Socks were donated for the 'In the Image' shoe-giveaway for school age children. A dinner potluck brought in a few more ladies to share a fantastic potluck meal. Everyone agreed that the food was irresistibly delicious.

Show and tell and games followed the meal. A good time was had by all.

We loved seeing everyone's faces at our first in-person meeting since September 2020. We all got together for a social sew-in organized by Pam S. and Jo M. to make mittens to donate to Santa Claus Girls. Interested in participating? The patterns and more details can be found on our Patterns page.

We had a great meeting and turnout of 32 people to the Zoom meeting with Kim Scherer from Kim Scherer's Korner, who talked about sewing activewear. Kim's list of recommended resources can be found on the Projects & Resources page (password-protected).

We had a great turnout of 26 people to our Zoom meeting! Joel Forrest of Circle JF Saddlery in Fruitport, Michigan, discussed basic leatherworking tools, supplies and techniques. His fantastic talk was followed by our usual show-and-tell with members.
