Advancing sewing as an art and life skill

Oct. 8, 2019: Jennie Devries gave a fascinating talk at our general meeting on her passion for vintage fashion and patterns. Her wardrobe, which we had the pleasure of viewing, consists predominantly of 1940s pieces.

Jennie makes these outfits using period-appropriate methods, oftentimes with fabrics and buttons from that era.

She completes the look with retro hairstyles and historical makeup (she favors Bésame Cosmetics).

Jennie wears these pieces every day. That commitment, coupled with her background in history, earned her an advisor role on the indie film The Castle.

You can find Jennie on BlogSpot and Facebook under the nom de plume the Ugly Dame.

The American Sewing Guild is a national non-profit organization dedicated to promoting sewing as creative, rewarding activity for all.

Winter is coming.  Please be aware of closings in Northview Public Schools.  If school is closed we will not be meeting.
